Detroit carjacking, robbery suspect in custody

Police arrest 22 year-old James Meeks.

DETROIT – Police have arrested a suspect involved in two carjacking incidents and an armed robbery.

According to investigators, 22 year-old James Meeks entered the Fast Track Gas Station in the 12000 block of East Seven Mile on June 8 at 2:20 a.m. and demanded money at gunpoint from a 23-year-old man who was inside. When the man refused, Meeks fired one shot into the floor before threatening a 17-year-old that was also inside the station. Police said the 17-year-old handed over an undetermined amount of money to Meeks.

The incident was captured on the gas station's security camera.

Meeks then fled and is reported to have carjacked two separate victims twenty minutes apart. Both victims were uninjured and were able to provide a description of Meeks, who was later identified in a photo lineup.

He was arraigned on June 10, 2015 on carjacking, robbery, felony firearm and CCW charges. Meeks is being held at the Wayne County Jail on $250,000 cash bond.
