Hudson is charged with first-degree premeditated murder, manslaughter and felony firearm. He was arraigned Tuesday morning and is being held in jail.

A probable cause hearing for Hudson is scheduled for Oct. 25 and a preliminary examination is scheduled for Oct. 31.

The Hip Hop Shop is a place made famous by Detroit rapper Eminem. Police originally believed the shooting to be a case of a worker fighting back against a robber.

"If there's an attempted robbery, a citizen has the right to defend himself," Officer Mark Thornton said.

Hudson was taken downtown for questioning. Police said he called 911 after firing the shots and waited for them at the scene.

The medical examiner ruled the death a homicide, and investigation by Detroit police lead to Hudson's arrest.
