Detroit man charged with sexually assaulting Henry Ford High School teen on her way to school

Justin Johnson charged with criminal sexual conduct first degree

DETROIT – A Detroit man was charged Sunday in connection to the sexual assault of a 15-year-old student from Henry Ford High School.

Justin D. Johnson, 22, was charged with two counts of criminal sexual conduct first degree and one count each of kidnapping, accosting a minor for immoral purposes, felonious assault and felony firearm.

It is alleged that Johnson sexually assaulted the girl at 7:55 a.m. Wednesday while the girl was walking to school. The victim immediately reported the attack to a school official, who alerted the police.

The girl was walking to school alone because her usual walking partner, a 14-year-old girl, was killed Tuesday night when a van hit her and another girl while they crossed 8 Mile Road at Evergreen Road. The 15-year-old waited at their normal meeting spot, not knowing her friend had died the night before.

After waiting for 15 to 20 minutes, she left for school and cut through O'Hair Park, where she said she was pulled into a brushy area and sexually assaulted.

Police released a sketch of the suspect earlier this week before arresting Johnson on Friday.
