Detroit Police Department starts new health initiative

DETROIT – The Detroit Police Department, under the direction of Chief James Craig, will make health and fitness a major priority in the New Year.

The department has teamed up with the Detroit Medical Center to improve the physical fitness of officers and other department employees.

The goal of the new health initiative is to assist in making healthier lifestyle choices that will boost morale and overall health of the police department. This will be done in part with quarterly wellness tests to make sure officers are maintaining good health.

"Get Healthy" will also kick-off the "90 Day Fit Challenge" that is part of the year-long partnership between the DPD and DMC.
