Detroit woman missing after cellphone found in field on city's west side

DETROIT – Detroit police are searching for a 34-year-old woman who was last heard from Friday when she was on her way home from Windsor, Ontario.

Police said Zainab Muhammad spoke to her mother around 10 a.m. Friday Muhammad told her mother that she was on her way from Windsor to the main post office in Detroit to check her post office box.

Later that evening, Muhammad's mother tried to contact her daughter several times and couldn't reach her.

Muhammad's cellphone was found Tuesday in a field near Grand River and Trumbull avenues on Detroit's west side.

Muhammad is described as 5 feet 3 inches tall and 150 pounds. She has brown eyes, black hair and a fair complexion. She has a tattoo that says "Perry" on her right hand and a tattoo of a sun with a face on her lower left leg.

Muhammad is in good physical and mental condition, police said.
