Detroit's bankruptcy filing back in court Wednesday

City says it has $18 billion in debt

DETROIT – The showdown over Detroit's bankruptcy filing is back in court on Wednesday.

Two key issues will be discussed during the hearing: The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME ) wants to re-instate pension checks for current city of Detroit workers.

Also, the NAACP will argue that its lawsuit that challenges the state's emergency manager law should be allowed to continue through the bankruptcy process.

Detroit this summer became the largest U.S. city to file for bankruptcy protection, citing $18 billion in long-term debt. It's operating under an emergency manager -- Kevyn Orr.
