Driver hits Detroit bus shelter, killing 1

Police arrest driver who hit shelter on Woodward Avenue near Euclid Street

DETROIT – Detroit police say a driver crashed into a bus shelter on Woodward Avenue Thursday morning, killing one person and injuring another.

The 23-year-old driver was going northbound on Woodward Avenue near Euclid Street when he crossed several lanes of traffic and hit the shelter, police said.

Another 23-year-old man was killed. A 22-year-old man is in temporary serious condition.

The driver, a Ferndale resident, was arrested and taken to a hospital to be treated for cuts to his face. Police said they are awaiting toxicology reports.
