DTE announces summer concert venue upgrades

CLARKSTON, Mich. – When you go to DTE Energy Music Theater this summer, expect your concert to be bigger, bolder and louder than ever before. Can you say 'digital upgrade'?

"We want to give concert-goers the ultimate experience in video and sound," said Kevin Grigg, Vice President of Public Relations for Palace Sports and Entertainment.

DTE wants to keep its reputation as one of the world's top summer concert venues. For the 2015 summer concert season, guests will have new improvements to the visual, technological and food and beverage experiences.

New Digital Video Screens

Fans will experience the thrill of live music closer than ever before with the installation of new high-definition video screens. Stage left and stage right will feature two new LED display screens measuring 10-feet-high and 19-feet-wide. Three additional high-definition LED displays (8.5-feet-high and 15.5-feet-wide) will be attached to the pavilion to enhance the visual experience for guests on the lawn and hilltop.

Capturing all the action on stage will be four new robotic cameras and two new hand-held cameras.

"The new video screens, cameras and control room will completely transform the way guests experience a concert at DTE," Grigg said.

Food and Beverage

DTE is getting in on the food truck craze. This season, its unveiling a new 18-foot "Palace Roadhouse Barbecue" food truck. Serving the house smoked barbecue from its own 4-feet-wide by 6-feet-long smoker, the truck will serve a wide assortment of brisket, ribs, chicken, hot links, sausages, sandwiches and sides from the time guests arrive in the parking lot until they exit.

"The food truck will also be at events at Meadow Brook and The Palace throughout the summer," Grigg said.

And if you stick to the concession stands, a new system called point-of-sale (POS) has been installed for cashiers to provide faster service and quicker lines at each venue.

Look for new and upgraded dining venues inside the theater as well:

  • The Arbor is open to all DTE patrons and is the top destination for post-show drinks and food.  Open an hour after the show ends, fans can enjoy DJ entertainment and late night food served alongside an assortment of beer choices and specialty cocktails.
