18-year-old man shot, killed at Eastland Mall

Mall was on lockdown Saturday evening after shooting

HARPER WOODS, Mich. – The Eastland Mall was on lockdown Saturday evening after an 18-year-old was shot and killed outside the Burlington Coat Factory, according to police.

Tyrell Lane, of Eastpointe, was walking out of the store when he was shot.

The mall was on lockdown for about 30 minutes, according to witnesses.

Officials said there was a group of young men outside the store when the shots were fired. A group of men was seen arguing in the food court before the incident.

Harper Woods police took one man into custody at the scene who was later released Sunday morning after being interviewed by detectives.

Harper Woods Department of Public Safety is investigating.
