15-year-old accused of stabbing other teen in chest at park in Roseville

16-year-old victim in critical condition

ROSEVILLE, Mich. – A 16-year-old boy is in critical condition after being stabbed in the chest Monday night at a park in Roseville, police said.

Police were called after a couple dozen teens were involved in a fight at Veterans Memorial Park.

The 16-year-old, a Roseville resident, was found wounded near the gazebo area.

Police said the teen told officers who had stabbed him before he underwent surgery.

Police arrested a 15-year-old Eastpointe boy in connection with the stabbing. He is being held in the Macomb County Youth Home and will be arraigned Tuesday on a charge of Attempted Murder.

The case will be reviewed by the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office to determine if the suspect will be charged as an adult.

“He was arguing with another boy over some rumors that were allegedly spread about the victim’s girlfriend,” said Police Chief James Berlin. “Our suspect pulled a knife and stabbed him.”

The victim is listed in fair condition.
