Elderly Detroit man attacked, robbed leaving bank

Victim: 'I feel hurt. I feel sore. I feel bad'

DETROIT – What began as a routine stop for James Cobb turned into a frightening ordeal.

Cobb believes he was targeted as he walked into a Chase Bank Wednesday at Springwells and Vernor in southwest Detroit. When he came out of the bank he was attacked. His wallet was stolen. Cobb believes he was attacked because of his age. He will turn 70 years old in May.

Cobb not only has a bruised body, he also has a bruised heart after the violent attack.

"I feel hurt. I feel sore. I feel bad," Cobb said.

He says while one man pushed him to the ground and punched him repeatedly in his face another man watched.

"They said give me your money! Give me your money! Give me your money! Give me your money!" he said.

They took his wallet, his identification, his Social Security card and $21. Cobb says he yelled for help during the attack but no one came to his rescue.

"They wait until old people go to the bank, get the money and then they get jumped on them and  they get beat up," Cobb's wife Dawn said.

Cobb doesn't have a good description of his attackers. He says he's worried that they'll come back for more.

"He got my identification. My address is on my id. I think he is going to come over and do something," he said.

If you have any information about this case, you are asked to call investigators with the Detroit Police Department.
