Family wants answers in deadly Detroit crash

Cierra Bean killed in crash Tuesday

DETROIT – The family of a 20-year-old Detroit woman who was ejected from the back of an SUV and killed is remembering their loved one and talking about allegations that the driver responsible was impaired.

Cierra Bean was killed Tuesday after being ejected from an SUV that witnesses say was speeding down Evergreen Road on Detroit's west side.

"I miss her saying, 'Mommy, want some breakfast?'" Cammilla Bean said.

Despite allegations that the driver of the SUV was impaired, or even drag racing, he is still free.

The driver lost control of the SUV, ran into a pole, slicing it in half, and crashed into a house.

Afterward, the driver's mother knocked on Cammilla's door.

"She told me they just covered my daughter up," Cammilla said.

The family said there were immediate allegations that the driver was impaired and speeding. But he was free to return to Cierra's home that same day.

"He said, 'I'm sorry,' Cammilla said. "I … couldn't say anything."

The driver is posted on Facebook, saying, "I'm not good. I'm hurt, but I'm alive."

"He's just wrong and he has got to pay for that," Cammilla said. "(I'm) going to miss her miss her so much."
