Farmington Hills Ice Arena evacuated after suspected chemical leak

Fire Department: Air quality tested, everything fine

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – The Farmington Hills Ice Arena was evacuated Sunday afternoon after a suspected chemical leak according to the Farmington Hills Fire Department.

Skaters heard a loud boom and hissing which prompted an evacuation.

The Farmington Hills Fire Department responded to the scene and investigated the air quality ultimately finding everything fine.

The ice arena is on W. Eight Mile Road in Farmington Hills.

A nearby church was evacuated as a precaution.

The Fire Department suspects the loud noise may have been the result of a power outage in the area.
