Police identify victim in U.S. 23 crash

Kathleen R. Santure killed, 2 others hurt in crash that involved semi-trucks, other cars

MILAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Michigan State Police have identified the woman killed Wednesday in a crash on U.S. 23 that involved several semi-trailers and cars.

Kathleen R. Santure, 82, of Monroe, was a passenger in a car that went out of control in the northbound lanes near Cone Road, crashed into another car and was broadsided by a semi-truck.

The crash caused a chain reaction with the other big rigs and cars. A total of seven vehicles were involved.

Police said two other drivers were hurt in the crash, both being treated for minor injuries.

The crash is still under investigation by MSP.

Once a report is complete, findings will be forwarded to the Monroe County Prosecutor's Office for review. Northbound US-23 at Cone Road was closed for nearly eight hours for the crash investigation, roadway cleanup and vehicle removal.
