Father files for sole custody after children placed in Children's Village, summer camp

PONTIAC, Mich. – The custody battle over three children put in a juvenile center because they wouldn't communicate with their father has taken a new turn.

The kids are now at summer camp and their father, Omer Tsimhoni, filed for temporary sole custody Thursday.

Tsimhoni's lawyer said in the motion filed that "Defendant Father does not want to punish Plaintiff Mother, prevent her from seeing the children, or take the children away from her permanently. He would like both parties to have a healthy, loving relationship with the children."

The story of the bitter divorce of Omer and Maya Tsimhoni sparked outrage across the country after Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Lisa Gorcyca placed the children, 14, 10 and 9, in Children's Village last month for refusing to spend time with their father.

In a hearing last week, Judge Gorcyca moved the children to a summer camp.

In the motion, Omer's attorney said that "despite the drastic measures taken by this Court to protect the children, Plaintiff Mother continues to act in a manner that is harmful to their emotional well-being and demonstrates that she will go to no lengths, including sacrificing the well-being of the children for her own personal agenda."

Omer Tsimhoni is requesting therapy for the children at Maya Tsimhoni's expense, a psychological exam for her and is requesting she have supervised visitation and that is dependent on her mental health.
