'Felony Lane Gang' suspected in Detroit-area purse thefts

Police believe members of crime group are striking in Royal Oak, Livonia

ROYAL OAK, Mich. – Police believe an organized crime ring is responsible for several thefts in Royal Oak.

One week ago, a purse was stolen from a vehicle at Starr Jaycee Park and 13 Mile and Evergreen roads. On Saturday, purses were stolen from three more cars at the Red Rung Golf Course.

Police are pointing to a group called "Felony Lane Gang." The group is said to steal documents used in identity thefts and are accused of crimes all over Metro Detroit and several states.

The Royal Oak Police Department in conjunction with the Livonia Police Department developed suspect information. The information resulted in the arrest of three suspects in the state of Ohio after a lengthy vehicle pursuit involving several Ohio police agencies.

The investigation is ongoing and involves multiple police agencies including the Ohio State Police.
