Fiat Chrysler announces closing of Conner Assembly Plant

DETROIT – Fiat Chrysler (FCA US LLC) has announced that is will close its Conner Assembly Plant effective August 31st.

According to FCA, the plant located at 20000 Conner St on Detroit's East Side was built in 1966 was purchased by Chrysler in 1995.

The Dodge Viper SRT & GTS along with V-10 engines have been produced at the facility since 2012.

Almost two years ago FCA announced they would be discontinuing the Viper, which lead to speculation that the plant would close.

In total 87 employees are employed at the plant.

FCA says the plant closing will be permanent and the auto-maker anticipates that all of the affected employees will be offered positions at other locations.
