Fiat Chrysler recalls nearly 26,000 Chrysler 200's

DETROIT – Fiat Chrysler is recalling nearly 26,000 of the 2015 model Chrysler 200 cars that have a V-6 engine. The recall is to resolve a manufacturing issue that may prevent drivers from shifting into park.

The issue was linked to inconsistent assembly procedures at a supplier's plant after five reports from customers that could not shift their cars into park.

Chrysler says customers will be advised when they may schedule service on the affected cars. Chrysler dealers will inspect cars and replace transmissions if necessary.

In the meantime, customers who own models with V-6 engines are advised to activate the parking brake before shutting off their engines because the shifter may incorrectly show that the car is parked.

Chrysler has not yet reported any injuries or accidents related to this issue.

Customers with additional concerns may call 1-800-853-1403.
