VIDEO: Fire burns at Scorpions Motorcycle Club in Lyon Township

Milford Road closed between 11 Mile and 12 Mile roads

LYON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A building was burning Friday morning at the Scorpions Motorcycle Club on Milford Road in Lyon Township.

Milford Road is closed between 11 Mile and 12 Mile roads as firefighters respond. Crews have been working to douse the massive flames which consumed part of the clubhouse.

No injuries have been reported.

The club's chapter president said it appears someone used a mini excavator, such as a Bobcat, to break into the building to steal a safe.

ClickOnDetroit has learned the excavator was stolen from a construction site nearby. It was being used to install a fence at the Michigan War Dog Memorial.

Here's a look at the fire from the ground:

The following video shows the flames mostly doused later Friday morning. The extent of the damage became much clearer in the daylight:

2nd motorcycle club fire reported this week

This is the second reported fire at a motorcycle club this week in Metro Detroit. On Wednesday, an early morning explosion and fire destroyed the Street Royalty Motorcycle Club's building in Detroit. A gas leak is the suspected cause of the explosion.

That explosion and fire, however, remains under investigation.

The ATF is investigating both the Scorpions and Street Royalty club fires.
