One firefighter was taken to Detroit Receiving Hospital with minor injuries, officials said.

The 17-year-old driver said he slammed on his brakes when the fire truck went through the intersection, but he went careening into the side of the fire truck.

He was not injured in the crash.

The fire truck had its lights and sirens on at the time of the crash.

The intersection is notorious for collisions, police said.

Another crew responded to the fire, which was a small garbage fire, according to officials.
