Rainfall, flooding closes Detroit Zoo Animals safe, but flooding damages facility No description found
ROYAL OAK, Mich. – The Detroit Zoo announced Tuesday morning that it will be closed for the day, following Monday's record rain fall and flooding in metro Detroit.
The Zoo says that while its animals are safe and secure, the storms damaged facilities and equipment, "including the Arctic Ring of Life, boilers in other buildings, and technical equipment."
The zoo will remain closed all day Tuesday as staff evaluates the damage and begins clean-up and repair efforts.
The Detroit Zoo expects to reopen on their normal schedule on Wednesday.
