Former Allen Park swim coach sentenced to probation in sexting case

Tyler Card coached at Allen Park High School, middle school

ALLEN PARK, Mich. – A former swim coach in Allen Park has been sentenced to three years of probation in a sexting case involving one of his swimmers.

Police said Tyler Card exchanged inappropriate text messages with a 15-year-old female swimmer from February 2015 to March 2016. He pleaded guilty in an agreement with the prosecutor's office.

At his sentencing Tuesday, he told the court he was sorry.

Judge David Groner sentenced him to the probation, plus sex offender treatment. He also cannot work or live within 1,000 feet of a school.

After he was charged, Card was fired by the School Board from his coaching positions  for the high school and middle school teams.
