FRASER, Mich. – Overflowing sewage due to a busted sewer line in Fraser is no longer being pumped into the Clinton River.

Crews had to pump the sewage into the river this week to keep it from overflowing into basements. As of Tuesday morning, the sewage is no longer being pumped into the river.

The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality is evaluating the areas where sewage was dumped.

The collapsed 11-foot diameter sewer line is buried 45 feet below the surface of a neighborhood along 15 Mile Road just east of Hayes Road. It collapsed Saturday morning, creating a sinkhole which severly damaged at least one house and forced the evacuation of neighbors.
