The Red Wings announce Jimmy Howard is out sick -- Jonas Gustavsson is in net for Detroit.

1st period:

7:01 -- Shots are 5-2 Detroit. The Red Wings have come out shooting and creating scoring chances. Dougie Hamilton and Justin Abdelkader both go to the box for roughing. Teams are 4-on-4 for 2 minutes.

8:32 -- Shots are 6-2 Detroit. Detroit has missed the net a few times, too.

9:04 -- Justin Florek gets called for high sticking, and the Red Wings go to a 4-minute power play.

9:00 -- DETROIT GOAL -- Kronwall from Datsyuk. Wings remain on power play. Tuukka Rask comes up big with some great saves to keep it 1-0. The Bruins escape after allowing one goal shorthanded.

15:00 -- Gustavsson robs Brad Marchand who was staring at an open net, but Gustavsson got the tip of his stick on it.

16:06 -- Shots are 10-2 in favor of the Red Wings.

17:28 -- Brendan Smith gets called for tripping his brother, Reilly Smith. Boston gets their own shot on the power play. Helm got loose for a 2-on-1 opportunity in which he chose to shoot, and Rask made the save.

Red Wings kill off the penalty.

The period ends with Red Wings leading 1-0 and outshooting Boston, 15-5.

2nd period:

4:27 -- DETROIT GOAL -- Pavel Datsyuk makes it 2-0 on a nice patient pass from Kronwall, who had just missed the net on a setup from Zetterberg. But he recovered it behind the net and got it to Datsyuk who was wide open, and Rask didn't have a chance.

8:03 -- Kevan Miller gets the box for roughing. Marchand, meanwhile, cross checked Zetterberg, but no call. Red Wings go to the power play. It was short-lived as Todd Bertuzzi gets called for interference. The teams play a couple minutes of 4-on-4.

10:14 -- BOSTON GOAL -- Torey Krug's shot from the top of the circle hit something on the way in. There were just seconds left in Bertuzzi's penalty, so it was a power play goal.

13:14 -- Gregory Campbell put Darren Helm into the boards from behind and gets called for boarding. Red Wings go on power play.

The Bruins killed it off.

The period ends with Detroit leading 2-1. Shots are 22-17 in Detroit's favor.

It's the 2nd intermission.

3rd period:

:20 -- Marchand started the period with a nice chance from the slot. Gustavsson turned it away with a pad save.

1:15 -- BOSTON GOAL -- Milan Lucic put it home as he stood all alone in front.

10:00 -- Boston now has edge in shots, 27-25. Brad Marchand missed a wide open net.

The teams head to overtime tied 2-2. Detroit is outshooting Boston, 34-28.

Overtime:

:50 -- Abdelkader got in alone on Rask who made the save. Abdelkader tried to deke, and Rask stayed right with him.
