Multiple people surrender to police after barricaded situation ends in Dearborn Heights

DEARBORN HEIGHTS, Mich. – Multiple people surrendered to police Thursday morning after a barricaded situation in a Dearborn Heights home prompted an hours-long standoff.

SWAT teams and police surrounded the house on Annapolis Street, near the Southfield Freeway.

Multiple agencies responded to the incident.

Neighbors watched as officers hid behind trees and the tactical unit knocked the front door down.

Police said the standoff centered around a shooting that happened hours before. A gunshot victim showed up to a hospital and said that someone shot him at the home on Annapolis Street.

"The officers went around the house and they observed a male come out of the house with a handgun," Dearborn Heights Police Chief Lee Gavin said.

The occupants of the home surrendered to police at about 7:45 a.m. Four men were taken into custody.

Police said the preliminary investigation shows the shooting victim was shot while attempting to buy drugs.
