Hamtramck police investigate 2 attempted abductions of school children

Police seek man and vehicle

Police are investigating two attempted abduction reports of children this week in Hamtramck.

The same man is suspected in both incidents. Police say he offered kids candy as they were exiting a school bus Thursday evening near Interstate 75 and Commor Street. He tried to get them to get into his vehicle, but the students ignored him.

Then, at about 8:30 a.m. Friday, a man with the same description tried to grab a girl near Casmere and Fleming streets. She ran into the nearby school grounds. The man fled the area.

No kids were harmed physically.

He is described as a light-skinned black man standing about 6 feet tall. He may be in his 30s. He has a medium build, a beard and he was wearing a black hoodie. His vehicle is described as a black Chevrolet Camaro with a white racing stripe down the center of the body.

Anyone with information on these incidents is asked to contact the Hamtramck Police Department at 313-876-7803.
