Hazel Park lifts pit bull ban

HAZEL PARK, Mich. – Hazel Park City Manager Ed Klobucher said the city has lifted its ban on residents owning or keeping pit bulls.

The lift of the ban comes with some guidelines, however, said Klobucher.

Some of those guidelines are:

-- The dog has to complete a behavior assessment

-- The owner or keeper has to have a fence to secure the dog

-- The owner or keeper must have insurance which covers dog bites

The original ordinance banning pit bulls was passed in 2008. It was amended in 2011.
