Homeowner opens fire on intruder in Taylor

Intruder shot in leg after break-in

TAYLOR, MIA home owner from Taylor is shaken up after opening fire on a man who broken into his garage. Police say the break in happened around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday morning, on the 8000 block of Oak Street.

An alarm system alerted the home owner. That's when he grabbed his gun, went out the side door, and entered the garage. 

The homeowner says the intruder jumped out, and that's when he opened fire, shooting the man in the leg. The intruder is allegedly a homeless man that was looking for shelter.

The suspect was taken to the hospital. His condition is unknown.

Police took the homeowner into custody, but released him late Tuesday evening.
