Husband: Wife killed at Southfield club was in wrong place at wrong time

33-year-old Nicole Riggs shot, killed after fight at Myst Ultra Lounge on Sunday

SOUTHFIELD Southfield police are tight-lipped about their investigation into the shooting of 33-year-old Nicole Riggs.

Riggs was shot and killed at Myst Ultra Lounge early Sunday morning. She was at the club with relatives attending a birthday party when a group of men were kicked out of the club for fighting.

While in the parking lot, the men fired several shots. A bullet hit Riggs inside the club. Sources said she was shot in the head. Riggs was taken to Beaumont Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Leon Riggs had been married to Nicole for 10 years. He says she was a loving mother.

"I have to explain to my 13-year-old now that his mother is never coming home," he said.

Leon Riggs says his wife was an innocent bystander and she had nothing to do with the fight. He says she was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

He is hoping someone at Myst will come forward with information to help find his wife's killer.

"I want to appeal to the viewing audience, we need leads. If you know, if you were there last night or if you happen to know or heard anything about this shooting please contact the Southfield police with any leads you may have so we can have closure," said Riggs.

Anyone with information can call the Southfield Police at 248-796-5500.
