Inkster motel closed due to drugs, code violations

INKSTER, Mich. - A police investigation is underway Monday morning at a liquor store and motel in Inkster.

The investigation is happening at Michigan Avenue and Beech Daly Road.

The circumstances of the investigation are unclear, but Michigan State Police said they were doing compliance checks that led to the closure of the Michigan Motel due to drugs and code violations.

Authorities said the motel and liquor store have a long history of crime. Police found evidence of drug trade.

Nearby residents were thrilled to see the motel shut down.
