Inkster and Michigan State police say a 17-year-old took a bullet Wednesday night for his younger brother.
The shooting happened at the intersection of Center and Woodland drives, when a 13-year-old boy was assaulted by a 16-year-old, who goes by the street name “Rio.”
The 13-year-old went home and told his 17-year-old brother about the incident, who went out in his defense.
Police said the 17-year-old didn’t know “Rio” was a gang member who also had a handgun.
“Rio” shot the 17-year-old twice, leaving him in critical condition.
Police said "Rio" is not in custody yet.
The shooting comes just weekend after a man shot three people, killing a 2-year-old.
