Plymouth teen accused in family murder plot pleads guilty

Roksana Sikorski was charged as adult with attempted murder

DETROIT – A Plymouth Township teen who was charged as an adult with allegedly plotting to kill her family pleaded guilty on Monday.

Prosecutors say Roksana Sikorski used a knife to cut her 12-year-old brother's neck and tried to stab her younger sister on Oct. 17, 2014, in their home. According to Sikorski -- who was 15 at the time of the crimes -- and the prosecution, her 23-year-old then-boyfriend, Michael Rivera, was outside the house sending text messages to her on how to fatally stab the family members.

Sikorski and Rivera were both charged with assault with intent to murder and conspiracy to premeditated murder.

Rivera went to trial last summer and was convicted. He was sentenced in August to life in prison.

Jury selection was supposed to begin Monday in Sikorski's trial, but she pleaded guilty to assault with intent to commit murder in exchange for other counts being dismissed.

Sikorski was adopted from Poland by Laurene and Jeff Sikorski -- who also adopted her brother and sister. They have maintained that Roksana was manipulated by Rivera and should not be tried as an adult.

As the evidence was laid out in court before the two were bound over for trial, Local 4 obtained some of the text messages the two exchanged the night of the attack. They're complete with instructions on how to slit a throat and peppered with emoticons.

"I feel like dad is waking. He's moving but snoring. Babe..?" Sikorski wrote.

Her boyfriend responded, "Baby im here just cut the throat quickly on both of them."
