YPSILANTI TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Police say they have arrested two suspects who apparently used a murder victim's credit card in Ypsilanti.
The two men who were seen in an Ypsilanti party store last week Thursday using a credit card belonging to a Jeffrey Kebler, who was found dead 10 hours earlier in his home near Lansing.
"He suffered multiple stab wounds, which were the cause of death," said Clinton County Undersheriff Larry Jerue. "It appears that robbery, home invasion, was the motive and he was home at the time it occurred."
After getting a hit on the credit card, investigators got a call from the store owner who said he saw the men again.
"Two days later he saw them in his other store," said Jerue.
Detectives made a connection after looking at the men's clothing in both photos.
"Something has brought them back to the Ypsilanti area on at least two occasions. Both sets of clothing have either paint markings or even perhaps drywall mud," said Jerue.
They also got a look at their car this time: A late 90s, early 2000s silver Toyota Tundra. The men are considered persons of interest. Detectives think catching them could help solve a murder.
It's still a shock for Kebler's brother, who lives next-door and found his body.
"My brother had nothing but friends, as far as I know. He and I have always got along good in this community. We're liked by everybody," said James Kebler.
