Local law firm aims to help cut down on New Year's Eve drunk drivers

DETROIT – New Year's Eve is one of the most dangerous nights of the year on the road.

Law enforcement officers will be out in full force, looking for drunk drivers. If you do drink too much this year, you don't even have to consider getting behind the wheel.

David Christensen is an attorney specializing in alcohol related crashes. He said his firm will pay for your ride home this New Year's Eve.

"We're trying to help people, who might end up in the hospital or in jail, get home," he said.

If you take a cab or an Uber between the hours of 4 p.m. Dec. 31 to 4 a.m. Jan. 1 you can submit your receipt along with a copy of your driver's license to safe ride home at davidchristensenlaw.com and you will be reimbursed up to $35 for your ride. You must be at least 21 years old and the rides must be within Wayne, Macomb, Oakland, and Washtenaw counties.

On the night before Thanksgiving, Christensen's law firm reimbursed more than 125 people for their safe rides home.
