Detroit Lions fullback Jason Cabinda offers helping hand for families during Christmas bash

There were 10 families who got invited to Dave and Buster’s for Cabinda’s event

LIVONIA, Mich.Detroit Lions fullback Jason Cabinda offered a helping hand to families during a Christmas bash.

Cabinda surprised families with gifts from their wish list up to $1,000 on Monday (Dec. 11) during a fun time in Livonia inside Dave and Busters.

There were 10 families who got invited to Dave and Buster’s to play some games, but it wasn’t the only surprise they had in store.

The lights, the sounds, the celebrations, and the fun were a prelude to the Cabinda Christmas celebration.

“We’re very blessed to be in a position to bless them this holiday season,” said Cabinda. “I think them not knowing everything that’s about to go down makes it even better because they are already so geeked and excited about the fact that they are here, and they don’t even know that they are about to get some gifts that were on their Christmas list.”

The big reveal came after dinner, and the smiles were the best part of the event.

“I am very thankful, like, I almost want to cry right now,” said one mother.

Even the parents didn’t know what Cabinda had in store for them and their children.

“I am so happy, this is everything, this is it,” the mother said.

“It means a lot, a whole lot,” said another mother. “Just to see the smiles on my kid’s faces is all that matters to me.”

Every child got something special, something they really wanted.

“My uncle taught me football,” said Mykell. “He taught me and I like to play basketball and I love it all.”

Mykell said he was forever grateful.

“All I got to say is God is so good because he got us all gifts,” Mykell said.

The other nine Detroit Public School Community District families said they were so grateful they had the chance to celebrate the holidays in a big way.

“My Christmas is made already as I am just happy to see smiles on my babies faces,” said one mother. “That’s all I ever wanted

Cabinda has been nursing a knee injury, but he has been contributing in a significant way.
