Nonprofit brings music to senior care centers in Bloomfield Hills

BLOOMFIELD HILLS, Mich. – It’s a musical field trip that took some Metro Detroit senior citizens back in time. The nonprofit Motor City Lyric Opera launched a mini-tour of Bloomfield Hills.

Motor City Lyric Opera made two stops at two different senior care centers on Wednesday (May 1). The music they performed became a powerful capsule, evoking memories and emotions that took seniors back in time.

It is music that stirs the soul and moves the foot, the music that has withstood the test of time and the strains of history.

Motor City Lyric Opera, a non-profit that travels to provide children and elders with a free music experience, performed transformational music on Wednesday at Cedarbrook and American House senior care centers in Bloomfield Hills.

Paula Tutman sits on the board of Motor City Lyric Opera, and she finds it extraordinary to visit beautiful senior care centers like Cedarbrook and American House and see the enjoyment and joy in the faces of our seniors.

She also wants to mention that Local 4 wants the public to get in on the magic. This Sunday, May 5, the newly restored SCHVITZ theatre in Detroit will offer a free public offering, a free performance so that the public can see what this organization is bringing to the young and old alike for free.
