Carjacking suspect dies following police chase through River Rouge, Detroit

River Rouge carjacking ends in Detroit on Dix Road

DETROIT – Police in Detroit and River Rouge are investigating a police chase that left one person dead early Thursday morning.

Local 4 had learned that the chase when police in River Rouge spotted an SUV being driven down the wrong way on a one-way street. It was also reported stolen out of Detroit.

The car sped into Detroit and ran into a utility pole on Dix Road near Pitts.

The driver of the SUV was ejected from the car during the crash and was killed.

Another person in the SUV got out and started running, but was caught by police.

River Rouge Police Chief Jeffrey Harris said his officers did a "good job" following his department's policies on chases.
