DETROIT - Detroit police made a major auto theft bust Friday night at a series of homes on the city's west side.
Working off a tip, the Detroit Police Auto Theft Task Force found four homes with large fencing surrounding them. The backyards had been turned into a chop shop with several stolen cars and hundreds of auto parts.
Illegal electrical hookups were powering the compound, police say.
Police say it will take days to pour over the parts that are collectively worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.
