Macomb County deputies to carry drug overdose antidote

The Macomb County Sheriff's Office has specially trained all 81 of its deputies to act as first responders in drug overdose cases.

Sheriff Tony Wickersham said the deputies will be able to administer a life-saving drug, Naloxone Hydrochloride, for opiate overdoses when needed -- in the event that deputies get to the scene before an EMS crew.

Families Against Narcotics in Fraser has entered into an agreement with the antidote supplier and will be training families how to use the nasal injection and selling the kits for $40.
