Man accused of drunken driving, killing bicyclist in Ypsilanti

Charles McQuire hit by suspect Saturday near Catherine, Spring streets

YPSILANTI, Mich. – An Ypsilanti Township man has been charged with drunk driving and leaving the scene of a crash that killed a bicyclist last weekend.

Police said Harry Leon Williams, 52, was behind the wheel of an SUV on Saturday when he hit Charles McQuire, 32,  at Spring and Catherine streets.

Police said Williams fled the scene, but was later arrested.

He is charged with operating while intoxicated causing death, driving with a suspended license causing death and two counts of failing to stop at the scene of an accident.
