Man angry over $20 beaten with baseball bats after throwing Molotov cocktails at house in Pontiac

Pontiac man found unconscious after being beaten with baseball bats

PONTIAC – Police say a 26-year-old Pontiac man was found unconscious in the 90 block of Virginia Street at 6:58 a.m. Saturday after he was beaten with baseball bats for throwing Molotov cocktails at a house.

Witnesses told police the man was angry about $20 that was owed to him, so he went to the home and poured gasoline over a car at the scene and apparently threw two or three Molotov cocktails at the house, setting the front yard on fire.

Several people confronted him with baseball bats and chased him down the street. A woman got inside the car covered with gas and hit him with the car, knocking him to the ground, where several other people stood over him and beat him with baseball bats.

The people with the bats all fled in a Chrysler 300 before police arrived at the scene. Police found the man lying in the street, bleeding heavily. He was taken to McLaren Oakland Hospital for a stab wound to his abdomen and head and facial injuries. Doctors don't believe the injuries are life threatening.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
