Man arrested after Pokemon hit-and-GO accident

Man told police he hit a parked car playing the game, then fled the scene

COMMERCE TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A Walled Lake man was arrested early Friday morning after hitting a parked car while allegedly drunk driving and playing Pokemon Go.

The Oakland County  Sheriff's Department reports the 28-year-old man hit a vehicle while driving in the 200 block of Meadows Circle East. Deputies followed a trail of vehicle debris to the driver's address, and determined he had been drinking at the time of the crash. The suspect was transported to Huran Valley Sinai for a blood draw via search warrant and treatment for injuries.

The suspect told deputies he was searching for Pokemon Go creatures on his phone while driving when he hit the parked vehicle. 

The suspect was taken to Oakland County Jail pending charges.Â
