Man charged for allegedly stealing ambulance, trying to drive to topless bar

PONTIAC, Mich. – A homeless man is facing charges after he allegedly stole an ambulance from outside a hospital in Pontiac and tried to drive it to a topless bar.

The Oakland County Sheriff's office said Bryan Joseph Kryscio allegedly got into the Star EMS ambulance Sunday when it was parked at McLaren Oakland Hospital and took off.

A deputy used cellphone technology to track the ambulance to Sterling Heights and police pulled it over near 14 Mile and Ryan roads.

During his arrest, Kryscio said he was on his way to the "Booby Trap", a topless bar in Detroit, to "see some pole dancing," the sheriff's office said.

He was arraigned Tuesday on a charge of unlawfully driving away from an automobile.

The sheriff's office said Kryscio is homeless and "has some mental issues."

He has criminal record in Michigan and Florida that involve robbery, breaking and entering, possession of marijuana and trespassing charges.
