Man charged in deadly Belleville apartment shooting

BELLEVILLE, Mich. – A Belleville man accused of shooting and killing a Ypsilanti man on Jan. 29 was charged on Wednesday.

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy charged Arndola Charles Lewis, 44, with first-degree premeditated murder, felon in possession of a firearm and felony firearm, second offense in the shooting death of Samer Taha Abukaff, 37.

According to police, Lewis and Abukaff had an argument and physical altercation at an apartment on the 48000 block of Denton Road in Belleville. When Abukaff was leaving the apartment, Lewis walked behind him and shot him in the head, police said.

Van Buren Township responded to the scene and arrested Lewis.

Lewis is expected to be arraigned Wednesday in 34th District Court in Romulus at 1 p.m.
