Man charged with killing Detroit woman he met through Backpage.com

Oak Park man accused of stabbing, killing 23-year-old Cynthia Worthy

DETROIT – A 26-year-old Oak Park man has been arraigned on a first degree murder charge in connection to the stabbing death of a 23-year-old Detroit woman.

According to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office, Jerome Moore met Cynthia Worthy through the Backpage.com social media website. Moore lured Worthy in the early morning hours of Aug. 15 to his house in the 10300 block of Dartmouth where he killed her, according to the Prosecutor's Office.

Worthy's family reported her missing after she didn't return home from the date. Her body was found Aug. 17 in the 4000 block of Davidson. She had suffered a single stab wound.

Detroit police arrested Moore days later.

He was arraigned Thursday and is being held at the Wayne County Jail. A probable cause hearing is scheduled for Oct. 22. A preliminary examination is scheduled for Oct. 29.
