Man charged with lighting fiancee on fire at motel in Fraser

Brandon Lovett accused of pouring lighter fluid on woman's chest

FRASER, Mich. – A man was charged Monday for allegedly setting his fiancee on fire inside a Fraser motel room.

Brandon Lovett, 26, was arraigned on charges of attempted murder, unlawful imprisonment and interfering with a crime report. He was ordered to be held without bond until his next court hearing.

Lovett allegedly poured lighter fluid on his fiancee's chest and set her on fire Saturday at the Skipper Motel on Groesbeck Highway, which is where the two live, police said.

He's also accused of breaking her cellphone so she couldn't call 911, police said.

The fiancee was treated at Detroit Receiving Hospital.

Lovett's father, Robert Pack, told Local 4 his son has trouble with alcohol.
