Man fatally struck by Amtrak train while crossing tracks in Westland

104 passengers on train, Amtrak officials say

WESTLAND, Mich. – Police said a middle-age man was killed Sunday when he was struck by an Amtrak train in Westland.

Amtrak officials said the train, which was en route to Pontiac, Michigan, from Chicago, had 104 passengers. None of those passengers were injured.

Amtrak said the passengers were taken by bus to their final destination.

Police said the victim was pushing his bike across the tracks when he was hit by the train.
