Eastern Michigan University football player found dead with gunshot wounds

Victim discovered by roommate in University Green apartments off West Clark Road

YPSILANTI, Mich. – An Eastern Michigan University football player has been found dead with gunshot wounds in an off-campus apartment building.

Ypsilanti police said 20-year-old Demarius Reed's body was found about 7 a.m. Friday by a roommate in the University Green apartment complex.

Police are calling this a homicide.

According to the university's athletic profile on Reed, he was a wide receiver for the team and is from Chicago.

He was majoring in communications, media and theater arts.

Eastern Michigan University has confirmed with the Ypsilanti Police Department that the victim involved in the homicide investigation reported in the timely warning earlier today is Eastern Michigan University student Demarius Reed. He is a student athlete on the football team. As was reported earlier, the incident happened off campus in the 700 block of West Clark Rd., near the intersection of LeForge Rd. and Clark Rd. It was discovered at 7:15 this morning. Ypsilanti Police are investigating the death and are in close contact with the EMU Police Department.
