Man injured by downed power line caused by fire

Vacant party store fire brought down power line

DETROIT – A man has been hospitalized after a downed power line fell on him Sunday afternoon on Detroit's west side.

Detroit firefighters said the man was burned across his neck, shoulder and legs.

The cause of the power line falling was due to a fire that erupted inside a vacant party store on W. Grand Boulevard and McGraw Avenue.

While firefighters battled the fire, a wall of the building collapsed knocking down a power pole which brought the rest of the power line down and hitting the man two blocks away.
