DETROIT – Homicide investigators from the Detroit Police Department are investigating a deadly shooting Tuesday morning on the city's east side.
The shooting happened at 3:15 a.m. at the intersection of Lakepointe and Berkshire. Six to 10 gunshots were fired. Neighbors said that's how many they heard, and that's how many evidence markers were on the scene Tuesday morning.
The victim is 35-year-old Keyon Cohen. His mother tells Local 4 he is a father and was engaged to be married this year. Cohen's mother, Leeca Grant, said people in the city of Detroit do not value human life anymore.
"There's no value for human life," said Grant. "And I just thank God that he was here with us, and I just pray that everything is well with his soul."
It's unclear what led to the shooting. Police are asking for witnesses to help.
